How do I turn off alarm when doors are open (same sound as when you turn off ignition but leave lights on)?

This can drive you nuts until you figure it out.
Even if the front fog lights are off because the "position indicators" (small lights - how do you call them over there?) are off, the buzzer will sound if the fog switch is on...

Also, does anyone know why the rear wiper switch incorporates the "only mist" position that just spills water on the rear window with no following of wiper movement Unknw Budget cutbacks?
