Forum:
hello, I have recently aquired a early 90's fourtrack that i believe is a long wheelbase as it is a 7 seater. Now while that is good the rear seats and i mean the regualar rear seats not the fold downs only have lap belts and I really would prefer to have 3 point inertia belts.a little re-search has shown that later models have a roll bar that the 3 point belts attach to. so what what id like to know is could i buy the roll bar and belts from a later model from breakers yard and bolt it all straight in or is it more complex then that and i have to attack body/chassis with a grinder etc???? or is it even possible. many thanks...........
seat belts.
hi there, i know this isnt the answear that you are specifically looking for, but i thought id point it out anyway, we have a 1992 fourtrak and have two kids, our three point seat belts dont fit the car seats we have!? wierd, just thought id point this out to you if you have kids! hope maybey this is of some use if any!

belts
thanks for your input, i was planning on maybe using them for child seats with a clip in base type arrangment which i cant see not working?? could be wrong!! what sort of car seats do you have?? are they for older children?? have found a place that will install new belts without the roll bar but at £156+vat each belt i reckon the roll bar option could be cheaper not to mention safer in a roll!!!thanks
ouch thats dear!
crumbs!, we have a rear facing baby seat (like the ones you can fit into a pram) the belt has to go around the front to secure but just isnt long enough! we are looking at getting some 1ft extension belts from ebay for £6 a pair, the other seat we have is a toddler seat which (ill try and describe best i can!) the belt goes around the arm rest type things through the back then back through and around the other arm resty thing then into the 'clicker'. (technical term! lol) the belts are just too short for us... in all honest i was thinking of kitting my trak out with bench seats throughout so that the belts will reach but also so i can have a temporary double bed arrabgement for those snowed in occurancies!.
hope this helps!
i can send in piccys if you want? i have the rollbar set-up on mine.

ok, well the seat we have has a base that the belt has to go through and a way of tightning the belt up, is kinda hard to explain but doesent need loads of belt!! is a maxicosi rear facing seat. could be of help to you!! if you could post soem pics would be great. you could tell me however how the roll bar is attached to the car?? im going to look at another fourtrack when i see one as i cant find any good pics online and want to see if i can fit it to mine. i think by the pics ive found it may entail some bodywork cutting as a think the bar is attached to the chassis.I wanted to avoid that if i could as the truck ive just brought is virtually rust free and 20 years old!! thanks for your help. Harvey
piccys...
hi there, i have no probs sending you some pics, can you message me your email address and ill send them over, i will have a look tommorrow at my trak as its snowing here and blowing a gail!! my fourtrak is also about 20 years old also. i know how you mean though as my trak failed its MOT once upon a time because of corrosion by the roll bar bracket.... ill send you pics if i can have your email would be great.
will look into your car seat model as this may help[ us too!

sorted
hi steve. spoke to a fourtrack expert graham dewhurst up north some where and he assured me i could bolt the roll bar in no probs and would just need to change the trim on the interior at the same time to keep it neat and tidy. bit of drilling required i believe. nothing major though. am also going to fit the seat runners from the drivers seat from another vehical so it also rocks forward but also goes back further.he really was a very helpfull bloke and breaks fourtracks and otheer stuff to he's on01254 772204 -incase someone reads this in the future with the same problem!! also the car seat we have is a maxi cosi - cabriofix hope thats of help. where are you that is snowing already!! oh yeah the egg came first due to two other bird species mating and creating the chicken. thats my take anyway. ta
