Forum:
Hi all, new to this site, i have a 1992 Fourtrak 2.8 TDX (and a spare one for parts!)
I went off roading a couple weeks ago and found it not to like deep water due to many little electrics!!!
I blew the turbo, and the rad which resulted in overheating the engine... not a problem, i had spares! I have swapped the engine and gearbox etc over, using the friction plate and pressure plate from my original one, and the clutch arm and release bearing from the doner, they dont appear to work well together, the clutch doesnt seem to "spring back the pedal. removing the clutch cable, i can physically engage and dissengage the clutch, although there is no "clutch-like" feel to it and it doesnt take any effort to engage it by hand, having no ressistance.
Are there 2 different clutches in these? the pressure plate looks different having seen it now looking through the clutch arm hole. Both of my Fourtrak's are 1992 2.8TDX, the only difference, is that mine was manual diff locks, doner had auto diff locks, which are now on mine.
Any help is much appreciated. I would class myself as a good DIY mechanic in the fact that i do ALL my own work and my friends and familys cars too. So i will eliminate or try any suggestions you have. I will be removing the clutch as i believe this to be the problem, i just thought i would ask as some of you may know or have experienced this yourself.
I also am trying to find what a part is in my engine bay, the doner car didnt have this i dont think... its a toyota relay like thing, wiring looks original to the cars loom, numbers on it are 2861064080 and 1828000775 12v. Its clicking very loudly and i suspect damage from being submerged in water whilst i was off roading.
Many thanks for any advice
