End Caps for Bumper

Forum:

Hi there, I am a Jreg Sportrak owner 1.6elxi. The bodywork is pretty mint apart from the 4 plastic end caps on the front and rear. I am wondering if anybody knows if I can either spray them or get new ones, if the latter where can I get them and how much.
Hope you can help,

many thanks

End caps

Has your's started to fade like mine? What I have done to get mine to almost back to their old colour is when i wash them to do them with a product called krill made by autosmart. I also do my plastic arches at the same time. Makes them darken again and have a slight shine! It does take a while to do though. About 9+ coatings in it, but you just do it with a cloth and if you doing the arches aswell, once you have done all the way around then the one you started on will be dry. Much easier than trying to respray or replace them.

Assuming they're painted. If like my old Timberline, it's just a case of monkeys using your bumper as a scrathing pole ;o) (It's not as if they're too small to see!) I found that with a little patience, a sunny afternoon and a spray can, a pretty damn good job can be managed! Similarily if they're cracked then fibreglass them, rub them down and spray them up. Whatever if you're not happy with them now, then you're not losing anything by trying. If you're not sure and want some pointer just ask!

im amazed no one knows this!!!!you are refering to the build up of gunk on the end caps that makes the black go grey?? yes?

the answer is simple..blow torch them...dont go mad! just gently heat them with a blow torch till the top layer of plastic goes shinny and slightly melts...then leave alone..dont put any colour on them or polish untill they have fully cooled!!you will be amazed at the way they come up..it makes them look like new and will last for years!!!

if you dont trust me then find an old end cap from the scrappy ,of the same type of plastic, and try it!!it works believe me
