so driving home today or should i say trying to my car starts to seriously lose power. Feels like i'm breaking too hard but my foot is to the floor. Putting my foot on the loud pedal very slightly i can get some power. Hills are a on go. Under 10mph. I get more power once i get into a high speed. But it got worse as i was driving. Stationary i could rev it all i liked, there was no gap in pressure etc. But moving i barely made it home. I've no idea where to start! Just priced up a new rad, fan and stat and it's getting more than i'd get for scrap. Any ideas what this new issue is? No over heating, just no power at all. Course bf is working nights so on my tod with this one. I can take it apart but i can't diagnose.

I assume this is the same vehicle that had the supposed over-heat problem you were posting on recently. I did mention in that post that I felt you were barking up the wrong tree because I did not see any evidence the vehicle was actually overheating.
Without any other details it is my bet you have lost cylinder compression, which tallies with your earlier symptoms you were certain was an over-heat. At best it will be just a head gasket replacement, and if you are unlucky it will be something much, much worse. Sorry.

The only water I have lost is
The only water I have lost is back to the sump, it fills up when the engine gets to about 1/4, again, no soup etc so I'm not sure where to go on this. I keep wondering if I am gaining air from somewhere in the engine?
My Brother in law had a similar issue with a charade which was something to do with Injectors and a diaphram which was causing loss of power.
I'm really at a loss as what to do.
Is there any way without taking it to a garage to test compression quick? I can only get 10mph out of it at the moment so reluctant to move it too far until the roads are a bit quiter.
When it first started playing up when I just left work I had to get into a high gear to make it go a bit more, but after a while I run out of revs for the amount of go I was getting so I had to limp, and slight inclines I was getting just over 5mph. The revs are normal, it's like the mix is wrong but everything is put on by the book, there are no holes, splits etc in any of the hoses. It could be timing, but at the moment I feel I am throwing money at an issue that seems to be getting bigger.
The only other thing I noticed was the oil 'filler cap' seems to be welded on when you try and remove it if the engine is anything other than cold, yet oil is at the correct level. My Dad tried to remove it the other day to check for soup and it wouldn't budge at all until it had cooled down.
There's still no stat in it. Just incase it makes a difference.

What I mean is when the
What I mean is when the engine gets to 1/4 hot the expansion tank fills to the top and occasionally over flows. what I mean is I am not mysteriously losing water, or losing it through a leak in the hoses.
At the moment with the list of items I am seriously considering scrapping it.
The to do list is getting horendous now.
For a start I could do with a new rad, definately a new fan & thermostat - all on hold due to this.
Vac hoses need replacing but more of a nice to do than need
Dizzy and leads as they are a bit worn, life left in them, but it's only a matter of time.
Fuel tank needs replacing as it had a huge leak - lost half a tank of fuel, can't put a new one on as I can't get the sheared bolts out So I need to re-drill the holes - No time as I'm currently dealing with other issues and it's held so far on 2 bolts.
No proctector on it as again bolts sheard, put a spanner to it and they fell apart.
Fuel lines need replacing as they are coroded, not leaking, but rusty, some of it has been replaced, then the cooling issue kicked off...
2 x £10 note sized rust holes on rear floor above fuel tank, slight corrosion on main strut, I've not poked it cos I'll scream if I have a hole.
Complete re-wiring needs doing due to some idiot, house cable and random connectors and boxes where the wire just wasn't long enough, hence nothing works at it should, I have no hazard lights as they flash when you put the indicators on, it's not the relay or the switch or fuse refering to the owners manual is a waste of time as it's been chopped into lots of things. Headlights are dangerously bad, driving lamps take too much power from somewhere.
Drivers door window deos not work, again wiring.
Exhaust has more holes in it than a seive.
Suspension and CV etc needs looking at due to play and feeling very light when turning right.
And that's what I remember, the list is actually an A4 sheet and I've done 1/4 of it so far

Keep thinking I have a real wrong 'un here!
Basically with some of the issues I really don't think it should have passed the MOT! but it did so I'm just grateful.

I'll drag anything salvageable from it and scrap the rest. I'd love chickens but I'm more of a big manky dog person and I think that'll look grand in the front garden.
