I have recently purchased a cute Charade GSXI 1.6 1993. Its an odd story as I sw the car for sale in the Isle of Wight many months ago but it was sold before I had a chance.
I then saw an ad for a charade in my local area and it turns out to be the same car So I guess its true careful what you wish for.

So now I have her and happy but have lots of problems (challenges) Firstly the engine in the car isnt the original its from a G201S De Tomaso.
I have two problems so far.

1. there is a huge amount of top end noise sounds like tappetts and it burns quite a lot of oil. I presume this may be the valve seals but if anyone can help with any engine specs on this de tomaso version i would be greatful, things like torgue settings tappett clearences etc.

2. It sounds like the whole back end of the car is about to collapse. Like a very badly loose shelf juddering. Ive ordered two new shocks and anti roll bar rubbers and hoping its just this but has anyone else had this issue.

Finally there is a buzzing from the gearstick which Im not entirely sure where its coming from. It varies depending on revs and what gear your in but i need to know if theres a gearbox mount rubber that goes or something
