Just feel like a moan!

MoT booked and last minute brake check. Rusty discs as usual as I don't use the car much although it's garaged - but never when wet. Luckily I have a spare set of discs and pads.

Nearside no problem, offside severe binding with the new parts fitted. Slider pins and piston working fine. Tried the old disc, same problem, so the new disc is ok. Must be the pads. Working on the outside pad 'cos it's easier to get at, I had to sand it down several times on a flat surface to clear the problem.

Strange that the nearside was ok (probably just), must have been luck.

Has anybody had this problem before, or has an alternative theory as to the cause other than over-thick pads?

The pads were in a box marked -
