Forum:
Hello again to all.
My beloved F20 has started to reject its water ie... it's pressurising the cooling system and sending the water back to filler reservoir popping the plastic lid and spitting it out.
I'm assuming due to the creamy residue appearing on inside of oil filler cap that the head gasket has given up.
Where can I get a gasket set for a reasonable price without having to get one posted from Australia. Is it a case of salvaging old one or getting one cut?
Try your local engine
Try your local engine reconditioner or engine component suppliers who supply internal engine components such as SMS down south as they supply everything from pistons to head gaskets for older Jap 4X4's.
Your engine is a Toyota 12R engine and Toyota dealers should be able to supply one as this engine was fitted to the early Hi Lux models which were 1.6L, they were also fitted to the Hi Ace van. Toyota tend to keep accessibility to such components for longer than the normal 10 years as their models are often so reliable and long lived, and many engines are often on sale for much longer in other parts of the world, and they will often import one just for you at no additional cost.
