Forum:
Hi
One of the warning lights has come on today - If it's something I can fix myself then I'd rather do that then have to pay a fortune at the garage.
I've to a couple of friends who have all said it's probably the fan belt or alternator.
(In the image) these lights are both on then when you switch the ignition on the oil light goes off but the orange light remains on.
Is this something I can solve myself - some forums have it posted that it's the OBD and that I'll need to take it to a garage.
ECU has flagged up a fault.
ECU has flagged up a fault. Normally to do with a sensor issue or something that has failed somewhere.
As Bob has mentioned you need a device that plugs into the OBD-II port under the drivers side column which will then read back what the code is that has flagged the fault.
Could be anything. Worth investing in something like a Scangauge-II that connects to the OBD-II port for just over Hundred pounds on E-bay. Has gauge readouts and a lot more, and one of its party tricks is that it will scan fault codes, bring them up and you can then google it to find out what it means. Also it will clear the fault code as well to see if it comes back. Dont forget it's an MOT failure this year in the UK (Thats if you hail from the UK as you have a USA flag?) to have anywarning light display/not display on your dashboard
and please dont go ripping out the LED to make it look like it doesnt work...
