Injector CCs on YRV turbo

Forum:

Hey guys!

What is the size of the injectors on the YRV Turbo?

And what injectors can the standard engine take? Smile

Any suggestions on a good uprated injector for the YRV Turbo? Wink

Been looking at the Toyota Vitz/Yaris RS ones as I think they maybe a good upgrade.

When buying injectors you

When buying injectors you just buy the size/type you need, Not car specific.

Yaris RS is about 150bhp I think, so the injectors (even if they fitted a YRV) would be near identical flow rates and not worth a change.

When uprating injectors you generally go for a decent flow increase of 50%, and remap to suit.

But unless you can remap the entire fuelling table for them. It will just run pig rich at all times.

Run a water injection kit, Then you don't need to worry about needing extra fuelling to run more boost.

Good advice there. I know

Good advice there. I know that the garage I used to get the remap and Unichip from offered up adavice on bigger injectors, so not sure which ones he was going to provide and fit at the time. Can only think Mazda RX7 ones?

Oh well, need to sort out the misfire problem first Smile

RX7 Denso injectors come in

RX7 Denso injectors come in quite a few sizes, starting at 460cc

The Toyota MR2 supercharged 4agze engine uses Denso 370cc which are often used for power of about 200bhp.

But the above are old injectors and the chances of them fitting straight in i'm really not sure of.
Plus the spray pattern is quite important to be same as originals.

The fuelling system on YRV has no return fuel line back to fuel tank. And no fuel pressure regulator. Fuel supply is all controlled by the modern method where the fuel pumping output is controlled by ECU adjusting voltage to the pump, rather than the pump running a constant flow and a pressure regulator regulating a constant pressure and sending any unused fuel back to tank.

In other words, The old method is easier to fit big injectors and get car running OK, You fit adjustable fuel regulator and adjust the pressure up/down to change the fuelling.

Not on the YRV. Fuelling mods have to be controlled by the ECU.

True story.

Perfectly accurate Pocketrocket.

The stock injectors on the YRV Turbo are 290CC high impedance denso top feed injectors.
RX-7 injectors have been known to be piss poor at atomization.

4AGZE injectors are indeed 365~370cc, but they are low impedance. In other words it'll fry your ECU if you plug it in and expect it to play nice.

If you are upgrading injectors you'll either need a piggyback aka E-Manage, or a complete standalone.
I've sourced a set of Lotus Exige Supercharged 2ZZ-GE injectors, 440cc DENSOs with 12 pintle holes for awesome atomization - I believe these's are the best injectors you can get right now for our application. And I'm going to be installing them with a Haltech standalone in the near future..

The 2ZZ-GE injectors should be plug and play, likewise for most modern Toyota/Denso injectors.
