Air con specialist for overhaul of F85LV-B Rocky

Forum:

Hi there,

I have found in the last few days that most places advertising air-con are re-gassing only. My problem is quite a bit bigger:

I have a 1986 Diahatsu "Rocky" F85LV-B. I believe this is the Australian "Rocky". It has become a restoration project.

It has a siezed air con pump and of course needs conversion from R12 gas. It is empty of gas now.

Could anyone point me to an air con specialist for whom this would be no problem? I am in East Anglia (but wherever I have to go!)

I have been trying to source a replacement pump as step 1. Through Ebay, I have found two USA companies selling "remanufactured" 10P13C pumps which seem to match. But they are not 100% certain ... there are many 10P13C pumps with (for example) different clutch types. So it would be better to find such a thing in the UK.

Here are the details off the ID plate on the side of the seized air con pump:

NIPPONDENSO
10P13C

047200-428xxx (the last two or three characters of the serial number I couldn't read)

R-12
DENSOIL 6
9P

LEAKAGE TEST HIGH SIDE 30 Kg/cm2 LOW SIDE 15Kg/cm2
MADE IN JAPAN

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can offer,

SF

Usually only the clutches go

Usually only the clutches go on the pumps, and the leaks are usually through lack of use of components which causes spindles to settle on seals over time and make them leak.

Look for a local air con specialist who overhauls the systems as they will know which clutches to fit, they will also leak test your system to identify where it is leaking, with a flourescent stain. These will know where to source the parts (if needed) and be able to deal with the entire system.

Found a really great air-con specialist

Just to update with the solution I found ...

I can totally recommend John at http://www.auto-aircon.com in Redditch. He is a true expert and enthusiast - something I could not find in my area and was also surprisingly inexpensive.
