Forum:
Hi All,
I've investigated a knocking noise from the back of the fourtrak and found that the rear axle tie bar bushes are warn...you can't move them by hand, but can see powdered rust around them indicating movement.
I'd like to replace them, but can't find anywhere that sells them, there is a rear suspension bush kit, for £72+ delivery, (found on Milner: http://www.milneroffroad.com/daihatsu/fourtrakrocky/f78-2-8td-51993-end-lwb/f78-suspension/f78-suspension-axle-bush-kit-rear) are the tie bars the trailing arms as in the description...I'm a little short on rear suspension experience, so I'm still figuring out what all the parts are called!
Does the kit contain the bushes I need? and what are the other bushes for on the rear suspension? Is there anywhere I could buy the bushes separately?
Pic below...not the best I'm afraid as it was more of a photo of my amateur arch repair work, but I've highlighted the bushes in question.http://www.daihatsu-drivers.co.uk/files/gallery/fourtrak-arch-bush%20marked.preview.jpg
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Martin

The other bush kits for the
The other bush kits for the rear are the ARB only, panhard rod only, or individual bushes for the trailing arms. I don't think these tie bars are catered for. I'll have to get under it again tonight to check properly.

E-mailed...
Milner, very helpfull as always, and probably should have done that in the first place! Thanks for the kick...lol
They call them upper trailing arm bushes...which I guess makes sense, although at £50 for the set, I may have a word with an MOT friend of mine and see if he thinks they will last another MOT or not.
Cheers for all the help as always guys.

Give Milners a call or E-mail
Give Milners a call or E-mail and they will usually just supply the bushes you want, they will know the size and doubtless find some off other vehicles which are the same.
If you fit poly
If you fit poly (polyurethane) bushes they will last the life of the vehicle, fit and forget items so cheap when you know you won't have to touch them again.
One last question....
I like the idea of fit and forget...already have the poly ARB bushes front and rear and the panhard bushes!
Last question....which way is best to remove the upper trailing arms? With the wheels on the ground, or up in the air? I don't want to run the risk of the axle moving when I take them off (I'll be doing one at a time, but still....)
Cheers!
