Sirion 1.0 litre engine swap and oil filter problem

Forum:

Just swapped out a 1 litre Sirion engine from my sons 1996 car. The engine we installed has come from a later model car, post 2006 we think. Was not till we were finishing off we noticed the oil filter is a different arrangement. Old one is the standard throw away screw on. New one looks like a paper element canister cover unit. The engine arrived from the auto wreckers with no oil filter just this oil line from the cam covers down and the exposed oil filter hole.

Tried the local Toyota dealer but he was no help. It seems we have to source the cover and maybe some other associated bits.

Any ideas, alternatives? Picture of the exploded parts would be nice.

Thanks

I can't see that you have the

You have the 2006 engine for a 1998?,

The 2006 engine is different in many ways.

I cant see how this it is going to work, The wiring loom will be differnt and the ECU for the 2006 engine as it runs variable valve timing system.
