Forum:
I'm having trouble engaging 2nd gear in my rocky '86, after an extensive research, I found out that the nut locate in the main shaft at the back of the gearbox could be related to the problem.
When I opened up the back of the gearbox I realised that the cage that holds the little cylinders of the roller bearing located on the right hand side of the gearbox, (right below the main shaft), was completely broken and the cylinders were frely going everywhere, my first question is : might this broken bearing be related to the problem engaging 2nd gear? And, regardless, can somebody guide me on how to replace it.
I ordered a new replacement bearing and it on its way now,
After I found the loose nut, I tightened it as hard as I could but the problem remained, so now my only guess is that synchronizer ring is damaged, my second question is: where can I get the ring from in Australia , I have searched the Web for hours without success? Also, can I get some help on how to replace it?
I would really appreciate any help or any thoughts,
Thanks in advance
