Now, how does one replace the upper ball joint on an F73? They are built in the wishbone! Does it mean having to replace the wishbone as a whole? Or is there a possible mod? Leaves me puzzled...!!!
Thanks

You'll need to get the old
You'll need to get the old ones pressed out and the new ones pressed in, whip the arms off and take them to a good garage.
I'm having to do the same with my F78 - just need to find the ball joints!
Ball joints
Thank you Chops. Just found your reply (I hadn't logged in in a while).
I sourced those upper ball joints on ebay. But they don't seem to be appropriated. They are bolt on types, not pressed. I've never come across the pressed type. What puzzles me is that no other 4Trak owner seems to be worried or concerned about the issue. Do these ball joints last forever so they never need replacing? Mine haven't...
Thanks again.

160,000 miles and counting
.... or 260,000 km to you.
Mine are still hanging on in there. Greasing them regularly (every 8000 km or so) must help.
If you are using your vehicle in a very dusty or sandy environment, then it is possible that this has entered the joint and wrecked it.
My problem is that the rubber boots over the joint are becoming quite cracked and perished. Eventually I suspect that they will split, so I am careful not to put too much grease in them at any one time so they don't swell up too much.
