my 1988 fourtrack 2ltr f80 needs gearbox on it it says daihatsu as opposed to toyota which is on engine. does this mean that it is only replacable with daihatsu or can i find an alternative toyota box 
does anyone know for sure what toyota uses the 3y engine and may be easier to locate.

Its a Toyota box fitted with a Daihatsu transfer case which was also fitted to the Hi-lux models, so you can get a Hi Lux box of the same vintage which will fit.
