A few ideas

Hello, I'm no mechanic either, but have done myself or with some help most of your above list on my Sportrak. Here's a few more ideas.

Brake pipes and fittings could do with an inspection, if you need new hoses llama4x4.com will do braided steel ones at a fantastic price (less than rubber even).

The battery is pretty key, although if you decide to get it tested at a garage they will probably just try and sell you a new one.

I wouldn't suggest this if you hadn't said no stone left unturned but rubber hoses don't last forever, so radiator hoses, vacuum hoses and fuel hoses can be replaced. Thermostat can be replaced too, but again not a standard service item by any means. If you do replace the 'stat, make sure you do get exactly the right one, or you'll have problems.

Wheel bearings, but I know nothing about them.

GREASE. If you have an independent fourtrak there will be lots to grease on the front suspension and steering, if a leaf spring 'trak then at least steering. Both types will have 4 universal joints to grease, two on each prop shaft. If you need to buy a grease gun, don't do what I did and get a cheap £8 thing from a cash and carry shop, it broke almost straight away. Go for a budget brand like Clarke, it's only a few pounds more.

I've found ebay a great source of better quality oils for less than you would pay for the cheap stuff in a shop. Have a look here for specs for gearbox, transfer box and diffs http://www.daihatsu-drivers.co.uk/node/89

The fan, PAS, alternator and probably water pump are all driven by the belts at the front of the engine. These are much easier to replace than the cambelt and can be bought online or at somewhere like Mill auto, just phone up and tell them what car you have and what you need.

Sounds obvious but are your tyres in good condition, doesn't matter how good the rest of the car is if the contact with the road doesn't perform.

Don't think you can do anything with the intercooler other than visually inspect the vanes and give it an external clean, as you should the radiator.

Hope this has helped a bit

Thanks for the reply and very

Thanks for the reply and very useful info ! Smile
Once we are all done, I will write a final list and post on here.

Anyone else got 2p worth to add Unknw

****the truth the half truth and nothing like the truth

My trak is a 2002 Fieldman

My trak is a 2002 Fieldman swb , I think that makes it a F73.
Also just bought the exact same truck off ebay but the new one is a 1998.

Ive got most of my service kit from Milners and bought oil from Opie oils online.
I will be diving in to servicing them both any day now.

Do them all, much easier with

Do them all, much easier with everything stripped out.

Grease all the suspension and steering joints and propshafts and pump until all the old grease has come out and the new grease is coming out so you know its all changed.

Remove the auto hubs and clean and fill with grease, look in the "How It Works Section" for info, and clean and adjust the front wheel bearings of indy, and repack with new grease.

Add cooling system cleaner to the coolant and let it clean it before draining, and drain by removing the radiator bottom hose instead of using the radiator drain as this has a small hole and larger debris won't drain out.

Take the opportunity to use the old engine oil and inject it inside the chassis and spray liberally to coat it to prevent rust, then coat the underside of the vehicle with any engine or gear oil which remains, another cheap insurance in rust prevention.
