Picked up a YRV today

Forum:

Got the Silver 04 plate YRV today for £1000, 74k 6months T&T Was going to pick it up friday, but kindly the guy followed me half way home, so I could pick up my missis from work, then go back and pick it up.

Its been unloved for a while by the look of it, I'll get some pics tomorrow before I start cleaning it up.

It needs a couple of tyres, and the discs look about ready for changing, but the engine's nice and quiet and pulls well. Sills are a bit rusty but are solid, it hasn't got side skirts? but theres some on fleabay for £30.

I'll get the tyres changed tomorrow and have a look at the discs and pads while the wheels are off.

Then its going to be 1 massive clean inside and out. Not got my machine polisher at home at the mo, so that will have to wait. I'm 90% sure I'm going to wrap it, not decided on colour yet, but the roof will be gloss black.

Enjoyed the drive home in the fog and rain anyway.

Not much of an update, and I

Not much of an update, and I think I'll start a new thread on this soon.

The standard interior light wasnt too great, so I decided to look at LED replacements. I ended up buying this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350670513997

I'm thinking about running a wire to the boot area to fit another 1 to light the boot up.

Installed with a dab of bostik

Spent an hour or 2 yesterday practicing my wrapping skills, as I plan on setting up business doing vinyl wraps.

Poor pictures as my camera battery was flat, so used my old one, but heres what I did

Some nice work going on

Some nice work going on here.
Unfortunately the model of car you have means that the cabin light is fixed onto the rear mirror. If you got a Premium with the glass roof then the light would be central to the cabin. As what you have done I have upgraded my Cabin light with a 24 LED replacement which lights up the entire inside of the car better now.
As for the Boot lamp I have already done this mod on mine. Can recommend getting hold of something like a Daihatsu Cabin light for a boot lamp.
Here are some piccies of my attempt on this under 'Modifications':

I fitted mine to the right handside of the boot, (The light needs an earthing point once you split off from the cabin light, and on this side of the car you have a point to screw into an active earth point) and put in an uprated LED 32mm bulb replacement to amit more light due to the black smoked cover on the cabin light fixture

Liking your wrapping skills Smile

Thanks for the info on the rear light. I was shocked when I couldnt find a light in the boot.

The 24 SMD board I've fitted in there is so much brighter than the stock bulb, lights up most of the inside of the car nicely.

Wrappings something I've been doing on and off for a year or 2. I'm looking into getting a small unit and setting up business doing full car wraps. The YRV will be getting wrapped in a couple of months when the weather pics up.

No Probs. The no boot light

No Probs.
The no boot light was probably to do with the car not having a parcel shelf as standard.
When I bought mine (YRV Turbo), you were lucky if you got a Tonneau cover (See the owners manual) that unfolded and can be fitted between the back seats and the boot lid.
Back in the day, Daihatsu UK would actually sell you a bespoke fit (Although made of MDF with a covering), where the garage would spend sometime fitting this to your car.
Dont forget this car is meant to me a Mini MPV, so that space can be adjusted to how you want it Smile

It's been a while since I

It's been a while since I posted anything. So a quick update.

I'm in the process of setting up my own business, doing car wraps, and legal headlight tinting.
My other half has been using the YRV for work for the last few weeks, so I've had little chance to do anything on it. The only upgrade has been a set of Philips X-Treme Vision 100%. A massive improvement on the standar bulbs.

For business reasons I'll be wrapping the YRV a different colour on both sides, with a gloss black roof, and carbon bonnet and boot! (Yes OTT but free advertising once its got sign writing on)

I've got 1 side wrapped in a nice matte blue, and wrapped the bonnet in carbon yesterday afternoon. Had a small piece of Covex tint film left over from a C5 I tinted Friday, so cut it to cover just the headlight side of the light.

If anyone wants to keep an eye on some of the stuff I'm wrapping feel free to like my facebook page. www.facebook.com/itsawrap182

Wow, Looks a awesome job! Yes
