front wheel bearings need a press?

as im changing the front wheel bearings on my sportrak ( inner and outer ) can i just drift out the old races and drift the new ones in then place the bearings in, or do you need a press to do this properly?
And also i take it you only snug the locknut up to the bearing and dont go too tight Unknw

No, you can drive it in with

No, you can drive it in with a large socket or pipe, you don't need a press, but do it carefully and evenly. If you have an angle grinder you can take a skim off the outer surface of the old race and use this to hammer it home by laying it on top of the new bearing.

One word of advice though, place some timber underneath the housing so this absorbs the shock and doesn't damage the housing.
