Grand Move keys

Forum:

Having recently bought a 1998 Grand Move I thought I shouild get a spare key, or two, as it came with only one grey one. My wife kindly tried the "shoeshop key cutter" route, only to be told that they could not do this one. Further research yielded the the impression that none of the independent transponder key people could help, and that the job must be done by a main agent, with the car present. (HORROR!) My nearest agent, West End Garage, in Surrey was very helpful, and explained that without the BLACK MASTER key it was impossib le to do anything except change the engine control unit and locks, which would cost about £1400. Since I paid £1500 for the car this did not appeal. I 'phoned two other dealers, one in Essex, and Proven Motors in Haslemere Surrey, both of whom said that the ECU could be reprogrammed to recognise a new master key, and that perhaps West End Garage were not quite up to speed on their product knowledge. This is the more charitable of the two possible interpretations of their advice. I now have three keys, One new master, one new slave, and my original reprogrammed. That cost £130 odd, and was done by Proven Motors, who were helpful and efficient, and charged me a few pounds less than their estimate.
Well done Proven, and thanks! WATCH OUT EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

Copying keys

From what I remember a couple of people on here have managed to get the grey keys copied successfully in the past for their Daihatsu's. I think they phoned around a few places first though.
