95-E10 petrol

Forum:

Hi, can anyone help? I'm off to France soon in my 2001 YRV Premium and I don't know if it will run on the new 95-E10 petrol they have over there? (it has 10% ethanol in it) I've heard it can wreck some engines!:? Scratch one-s headScratch one-s head

Ummm... Good question.

Just had a read of this from a google search:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/travelnews/5795480/British-tourists-warned-over-damaging-French-fuel.html

Looking at the above article it appears you still have a choice of fuel, but need to pick the correct nozzle to not to use the 95 E10 variant.

I would say stay clear, as I am aware our petrol tanks are metal and not plastic. Yet the YRV (1.3 Litre) was registered after 2000, and if I'm right you have one of the first registered YRV 1.3's from 2001.

'15' Plate SEAT LEON 184 FR TDI. 240BHP/500nm Torque.
Past: '53' Plate Yellow YRV Turbo Approx. 150BHP

I'd seen this article!

My YRV is a 51 plate so it could be OK to use, however as you say I think I'll stick with the other fuel(98 super unleaded)! Its maninly the motorway services that don't have normal 95 unleaded petrol. I'll still keep looking to find out if its OK to use and post anything I find out!
Thanks for your thoughts!
