adding remote control central locking unit to sirion sx (06)

Forum:

hi guys
daughter just bought o6 plate sirion, absolutley loves it.
her only problem albeit a small one is that central locking/opening is via a key.
so she went out and bought a remote unlocking kit.
guess who has to fit it lol
anyway, dont no were to start:-S
have a wiring diagram http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/argos007.jpg/ couldnt see option to upload here!
so if anyone could have a look and give me some pointers, i would realy appreciate it:-)

Thought the new mark iii shape Sirion already has remote locking

First off welcome.

Secondly, I was under the impression the mark 3 Sirion (box shaped) had remote central locking as standard? The previous mark 2 produced from 2001-2005 had this as standard.
From the sounds of it the top of the range mark 3 Sirion which your daughter owns e.g the 'SX' should definitely have this already fitted. I remember an owner on here who had a 2006/7 model had this as standard and I don't think it was an SX model.
Worth checking the owners manual first before going digging into the car electrics as you maybe adding something extra you don't need.
As for the remote fobs, then these are standard option remote fobs which span many a Daihatsu model. Saying that I have seen second hand remote fobs on eBay starti g at 99P! But technically you should have got this when you purchased the car.
Hopefully someone who owns a mark 3 Sirion comes along to confirm this Smile

Normally 2 fobs can be programmed Wink

Edited to add:

Just done a search on auto trader, and all models of the Sirion mark 3 are advertised as having remote central locking as standard. There was even a picture of a 2007 SE model (One below the SX) with the keys and the Daihatsu remote fob attached to the keychain such as the one pictured in the 2 links above. Definitely worth seeing about getting ho,d o a replacement fob. Bu be warned the dealership will want a small fortune. Bu maybe a member on here may have a spare one for sale Smile definitely a better option than wiring in another nit, unless you remove the original and fit this 3rd party untested unit Wink

well no remote fob

well no remote fob supplied:-( Sad
so ur saying i can pick up a 2nd hand unit and reprogramme it to suit the car?
would be the easiest option Wink

Yes.

I would say so, but its getting hold of a 2nd hand fob to start with.
I believe a local dealer will want over £100 for a new fob.

Check out the following thread about a mark 1 owner who was doing this, but unfortunately we found that the mark 1 had remote central locking as an optional extra. Instructions to programme the fob(s) is also included, which should be the same for your car as it did work on a Daihatsu Materia:

No Worries.

Worth also contacting a dealership on the phone just to confirm that your car has remote central locking. Which I cannot see why it hasn't. Just for peace of mind.
TO find a dealership go to: www.daihatsu.co.uk

Sirion Remote Locks Wiring Diagram

Hello Everybody, my wife lost the remote to our car and a replacement here in Italy costs over 150Euro. I would like to add a separate receiver/transmitter kit that I have already bought but have not been able to figure out the wiring. There are five wires, two larger and 3 smaller going to the key lock. HAve not been able to understand if its a positive or negative impuls for the operation. Any help would be gratly appreciated.
Nice site you have over in UK, nothing like it over here.

Thank you in advnace to anybody that can help.

Regards,
Marco

Personally I would have tried

Personally I would have tried to find a second hand product rather than mess with adding another unit.

As an example there are 2 fobs for sale @ £50.00 each on eBay.co.uk.
Item number: 130991958920

Then use the programming instructions provided on this thread.

Again cue Bobf for the manual. Wink

@bobf when do I get a commission payment for this? WinkSmile
