Looking to pick up a YRV engine - suggestions?

Forum:

I'm looking to pick up a complete engine for my YRV 1.3 - have had a few quotes from online breaking sites as well as for reconditioned engines. I'm not sure how confident to be in the breaker's yards - does anyone have any experience good or bad with scrap yards for complete engines or have particular specialist breakers that I should try?

Any suggestions welcome - I've got someone who is willing to fit the engine for very little cost so just looking for it delivered.

Yes! Don't lift with your back!.... ;-)

On a more serious note. You takes your pick and takes your chance I'm afraid. I don't know of any Daihatsu Breaker specialists apart from Ebay seller Patch2Spots who breaks Sirions. The Mark 1 Phase 2 or should that be the Mark 2? Before the introduction of the newer box shape models (Mark 3) have Samish engine models to the YRV. Except if you wish to go for a 1.3 K3-VE then you maybe out of luck, but if your considering an uprated K3-V2 with slight power upgrade from the K3-VE (YRV) 85BHP to 101BHP then this could be a possibility. Obviously you will need the ECU etc.. to go with that Wink

I don't do lifting - I get other people to do that for me Wink

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to stick with the k3 ve and keep it standard. Going to take the plunge and order an engine on Monday from a breakers I think!
