2005 Charade Timing Belt

Forum:

Hi guys,

I have lurked around the forum for a while without registering, so apologies for my first post being one asking for help.

I've had my 2005 Charade coming up 3 years, since it was just turned 5 years old. Stupidly, I have only recently realised it should have had the timing belt done then, even though now the car has only done 15k miles, I don't like the idea that it's nigh on 3 years overdue for a change.

Has anyone done the timing belt on one of these before? I can't seem to find any information on setting the timing or the tensioner. Would it be the same as other cars fitted with the EJ-VE? Also, would anyone know of a reputable place to get the belt/tensioner kit? I seem to be struggling with both of the above.

The car is fully serviced otherwise, and so far has only done 300 miles since the last service and isn't due til November, but I don't want to risk waiting that long.

I've done a couple of timing belts before on other cars so was hoping to not have to send it in to the garage, but if that's the best thing to do then it will be done.

Thanks in advance.

Just checked the EJ Engine

Just checked the EJ Engine manual for the EJ-VE and yes it's a timing belt.
All the torque settings etc...

I take it you have this too Bobf?
