Stuck Clutch.

The damp has got into the clutch over the winter and little tiny threads of rust have grown from the flywheel and cover and gone into the clutch plate. This causes it to all stick together and the clutch won't release. One way to free it off is to start in gear and drive round with the clutch pressed pressing the throttle and brake alternately until the 'stiction' breaks and you get your clutch back*. On my old Bedford army lorry there was an access panel under the clutch so you could hammer a screwdriver in to free the plate!

* you do this at your own risk somewhere safe.

You gain access through the housing where the clutch fork enters, remove the rubber boot and pull it back down the fork.
