Forum:
HI THERE,
THIS IS MY FIRST POST HAVE I HAVE JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST FOURTRAK!!
NOTICED ON THE DRIVE HOME THAT WHEN DRIVING, KEEPING A CONSTANT/SLOWING DOWN (NO LOAD) THERE IS A REALLY TINNY RATTLE COMING FROM THE REAR PROP SHAFT.
I CAN MAKE IT DO ALMOST THE SAME NOISE BY GRABBING IT WITH MY HAND AND TWISTING IT SIDE TO SIDE.
IT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE ACTUAL HOLLOW PART OF THE SHAFT WHICH IS STRANGE.
JUST WANT TO KNOW... IS IT A PART ON THE SHAFT I CAN REPLACE?
IS IT NEW SHAFT TIME?
ANY HELP WILL BE GREAT!

Grease
Try greasing the nipples at the ends of the prop shaft at the CV joints. The nipple is probably hidden in debris or dry grease.
Rattling propshaft
There is a phrase in engineering "catastrophic failure", that is what UJ's in propshafts do after they start squeaking and rattling. Think what will happen if the front joint fails and the prop shaft drops and digs into the ground. If you are lucky it will just tear the axle off. Please get the UJ's done.
