First post I'm considering

First post Smile I'm considering buying a YRV Turbo and this one looks really clean. I've seen a few advertised between £2-2.5k with 50-70k miles on them, is that about right if they have decent service history? So where would that put this low mileage one price wise?

Umm this model that has come

Umm this model that has come up for sale is quite unique with the mileage etc.. And the pictures look great. But...

- Daihatsu UK only originally imported 210 YRV Turbos into the UK and made into UK Spec models

- these cars are now over 10 years old. So what's the condition like underneath? As an example the sills on the front and rear sides can start to rot. Mine started to do this and had to have them welded up. Original exhausts rot, the rear under anti-roll brackets snapped on the original items and were replaced with thicker ones.

- Service history is a must on these cars. A lot of owners made a mistake that it should be done every year. In fact the car has to be serviced every 6 months. Mainly oil and filter changes. Also the auto box fluid and filter needs changing every 6 years. Not mentioned in the service schedule. This is the fault of Daihatsu UK in my opinion. But the auto box service is mentioned in the owners manual.

- Parts are still available, but can be a challenge for some things. Also the front brakes are slightly larger than the standard YRV (246mm discs compared to the 234mm discs on the standard YRV). Has caught out a few people in the past, even Daihatsu service garages.

- The Ride is not for some. Can be a bit kangaroo on the rears due to the updated springs done by camspeed when they changed he YRV and added bits like the suspension, rear anti-roll bar, and added the red stitched steering wheel and auto lever.

As for price, the garage in question have priced this car at 2007 price levels, which is fair enough, but consider that there are only around 150 cars left on UK roads. Beggars can't be choosers. But bear in mind the above and check the obvious for signs of rust.

Great info thanks

Thanks for your very comprehensive reply.
I'm in the difficult position of being miles away from where all of the advertised YRV turbos seem to be. I can only ask the dealers to check and confirm the things you have mentioned and send photos which is never as good as seeing in person. Might just have to wait and hope one comes up for sale nearby to be on the safe side. On the plus side, there is a Daihatsu service centre only 5 miles from me according to the website

If it makes you feel better,

If it makes you feel better, I was on the lookout for ne of these and it took me 2 years before one came up for sale close enough to me, which at the time was 20 miles away. I was also after a black coloured car, in the end got a yellow one. And still own this for over 6 years Smile
