Forum:
As we were out growing the turbo, we traded it in. I have since heard that the gearbox blew a couple of months after the new owner had it at a trade cost of £1800. Apparently he lost 2nd and I think 3rd gear and something had sheared off inside I think. It had only done 38k miles and was probably the least thrashed turbo going as my wife never hammered it and the previous winner was 92 years old. Just goes to show it is pot luck I guess. The fluid was always clean and I had replaced it once. Maybe the new owner hammered it and finished it off as it may have been starting to fail internally. Just thought I would share this news.
Cheers
Wayne
Very lucky then you got rid
Very lucky then you got rid when you did. Even though the oil has been changed was the box filter? Then again you dont know who the new owner is and if any modification has been carried out.l

Hope all is well. No the filter was never replaced, I wonder if that contributed to the failure? Plus the D4 light used to flash occasionally. If it had failed on me I would have scrapped it or sold as parts as there is no way I could have afforded to repair it and second hand boxes are not exactly common.

Yea all good this end thank you, hope all is well your end! I will miss the old girl as it was good fun, but simply way too small and didn't feel that with family in it at speed on the motorway. I saw the car last week in Blackpool so it lives again!

Hi Wayne. Doing well thanks
Hi Wayne. Doing well thanks
Understandable about swapping your YRV Turbo. Can be a bit harsh for backseat passengers etc..
Good to read the car has been resurrected and still on our roads. Wonder how many of our cars are still road worthy?
