Charade 2006 - recalibrate speedo?

Forum:

Just reading where someone said the wheels from the BMW mini are a perfect fit for the Charade..

I was wondering though, what happens to the speedo calibration when you use a different size wheel?

I have a feeling the Charade speedo is electronic, so presumably it should be possible to recalibrate it with just an adjustment to a variable resistor? - but I wonder if that might be a DIY proposition, or something only a specialist could do??

Just tried using 'Torque' on

Just tried using 'Torque' on my Android phone while driving my 'new' 2006 Charade, I was very interested to see that the road speed reported by the ECU is within about 0.1mph of the speed reported by my GPS.

Given that the law requires car speedos to never report a speed less than real road speed, I can see that the speedo is set to show something else - but I now don't know whether or not to doubt my mileage recorded by the speedo...

I've found a GPS app that does record distance traveled, so I guess I need to do a long run and compare results!

At least I now know that if I buy the Jaycar gadget to adjust the speedo reading, it won't have any affect on the ECU or ABS etc..
