Killing the beep - or cutting the lights. 2006 Charade

Forum:

I was left stranded with a flat battery the other day, after leaving the lights on while popping into the South Mimms services for a meal...

My old Perodua Kelisa's had a beep to warn when the lights were left on - which was very effective. But in the Charade, the same beep is also used to also warn against leaving the key in the ignition when opening the door.

Now, I actually find it much more convenient to have the key in the ign, than be forced to remove it and stow it somewhere else. So the constant (and unnecessary) beep becomes a bit of a nuisance you just try to ignore. Hence my walking away from the car and not noticing that the headlights were still on!

Sadly I don't have a wiring diagram - but I wonder if their might be a simple solution which would allow the beep warning only when the lights are left on?

Ideally, I guess I would also like to have a relay turn off the driving lights when the ignition is turned off - such a pity Daihatsu didn't implement this. They did with the much less important interior light!
