Forum:

New to DD UK,
want to hear from materia owners about anything really, seems like not
much support when looking on google, bought a dark red 57 plate a few months ago , love it to bits, 16 inch calibre alloys , currently leather wrapping the steering wheel & got a genuine lower mesh grill to fit when
the weathers nice again, I,ll post some pics of it soon.
anyone know where to get a decent w/shop manual for it(not the disc one off ebay its worse than useless).

Monster mat,

Welcome to the group therapy. And yes you are in very sparse company when it comes to Materias. I have, or at least my wife has, a 2009 one. I of course do drive it and find it an altogether pleasant car and a head-turner. They are certainly more loved and admired abroad than the UK, which is very traditional when it comes to car ownership, so it puts us in a very exclusive club. They don’t know what they are missing.

Much of the running gear is from the 1.5 Sirion, which is my car (yes we are a Daihatsu family) and I do all my maintenance so I know a bit about some parts if you ever get stuck. There is a seller on eBay that is good but I can’t recall his identity. He was mentioned here recently so somewhere it is listed. I don’t know of any endemic problems with Materias so just do the regular stuff.

Incidentally how do you get along with the central dashboard arrangement? I was dubious at first because I have had the misfortune to drive (not own) cars with this set-up and I found it a nasty place to put instruments, but the Materia does not bother me – it just seems right. Perhaps it is the way the whole dashboard seems to envelope the front and the eye just follows the line.

As for a workshop manual, good luck. If you do find one let me know.

Well there we have it.

Regards

Thanks for the replies, I,ll answer all on this one
centre dash is no prob as I,m used to this layout having owned a toy
yaris sr & t sport, I think the materia one is better as its bigger .
I like this layout as you don't have to glance down to check instruments when driving.
appologies to U-FIXUK on ebay re the w/shop manual disc its fine , being old school I thought bumpers would be under the body section,
they are under chassis, disc is available for £6.95 .
only gripe is couldn't get it to work on pc , something to do with
security.
I agree , the turbo should have been sold here, pity the momo stg wheel was not fitted to other materias instead of the naff plastic one
will post pics end of week let me know what you think
