F50 Front Prop Shaft

Forum:

I have a A Reg F50, where the front prop shaft is slightly warn. does any one know where I can get a replacement or if there is any way of refurbishing the existing one. I have two spare rear shafts but they are just to short. I have thought about cutting one in half and extending it but I am not sure if it welding an extention piece in would stand up to the loading. The F50 is used for RTV trialing and green laning. Also does any one have any tips to stop the free wheeling hub bolts from coming loose and shearing. While I am here I am going to have to replace the starter motor any tips for its easy removal.

Regards
Rob.

Use some sort of Locktite on

Use some sort of Locktite on the hub bolts to stop them coming undone, and an extension on the allen key, if they are allen head bolts like the later hubs.
The propshaft can be bodgied, if its off road use only. Some people over here use two pieces of very close fitting square tube, one inside the other, for propshafts. Virtually unlimited spline length. It works ok provided your not trying to set any world speed records where tailshaft balance is critical.

Thanks for the tips. The hu

Thanks for the tips. The hub bolts are hex all now replaced, I will certainly try locktite. I will see how I can botch up the prop shaft, it sounds simple. I don't think speeding is an option in my F50, I am sure it puts all its energy into making noise than speed.

Thanks Again
