Free wheeling hubs

Forum:

Hi I am new on this forum but have been told that this is the best forum for information on the Fourtrak. So here it is "Has anyone got a definetive answer to weather or not Suzuki SJ or Vitara manual free wheeling hubs fit a n F78 indy (1994)" I currently have the auto hubs and they don't work. I also have a problem with the H4 button not operating as it should, I understand this it could be a VSV or solenoid causing the problem but don't know what they look like or their location.
Any help on these issues would be greatly received (photo's even better)

Cheers Dave

Hello, im tractor stig on the difflock site, its down at the min and recognize your name, does your front prop shaft lock up solid and turn when you activate 4wd of any sort? if not that will most likely be sticky solonoids on the transfer box or the vacuum diaphragm inside it not moving the slider, personally you cant beat the full manual transfer boxes, electrics/pipework + outside and water dont mix, as for auto hubs Suzuki are Suzuki and daihatsu are daihatsu/toyota so no nothing will fit, the hubs can be purchased from various sites. If your auto hubs are not working you need to check your front prop first, as there is an order of machinery parts 1.engine 2.gearbox 3. transfer gearbox 4. prop shafts 5. diffs 6.drive/halfshafts 7. hubs.....if your prop doesn't spin then you wont know if your hubs are working unless you turn it by hand with the front jacked up.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

I have checked to see if I am

I have checked to see if I am getting any 4wd at all, these are my findings;

Low 4 working as it should turning prop shaft and half shafts all four of them.
High 4 not working at all as I suspected, button not working.
Auto free wheeling hubs also not working also as suspected.

I am going to weld the auto hubs up as funds don't allow a set of after market jobbies (hence the question about the Suzuki ones)
Where would I find the solenoids for the 4wd selectors?

if you have 4low and so all

if you have 4low and so all front wheels turn etc, your auto hubs are working fine, probably have a solonoid issue on the transfer box for 4h.

No all four drive shafts are

No all four drive shafts are turning, the front wheels however are not! so the hubs are shot.
How do I access the solenoids?
