new daihatsu sirion owner

Forum:

hi all new to this site so a little about my cars. i have recently bought a daihatsu cuore automatic for the wife as a cheap runabout.I was so impressed with this little gem 51k on the clock 600 pounds bargain!. I went and sold my honda hrv really heavy on fuel and bought a 2007 daihatsu sirion 1 liter got it cheap. 14k on the clock 1 owner 1700 pounds. Anyway its not perfect needs a new rear bumper and a drivers side mirrior cover other than that its very good on fuel cheap to insure and tax. the guy who owned it before retired from driving hence the bumper and wing mirrior.Going back 12 years in my early 20s i had a daihatsu fourtrak 2.8 tdi short wheel base. loved it went like a rocket could pull a house down. Anyway blew the engine on it racing a vaxhall nova Don't ask! did have 200k on the clock it went round twice.Well i could not afford to fix the fourtrak at the time and sold her on.
Anyway kinda forgot about daihatsu until recently. great cars shame that they decided to pull out of europe.Im thinking that dacia cars are similar in car ethos but with half the build quality. Got me thinking that daihatsu/toyota have missed a trick here.I think with the right marketing they could have shifted alot more daihatsu cars. basic reliable japanese cars cheap. instead we have second hand french crap badged dacia thrown together.Toyota could have done same as renault and just sold the daihatsu's along side the toyota cars. Anyway just wanted to have a rant! and introduce myself i can service my own cars fix basic stuff on them.

Couldn't agree more. They had

Couldn't agree more. They had some really cute cars for the home market that would have sold well here - look at how the Kia Picanto took off! If it wasn't so expensive to import them I'd definitely get a couple of the newer Cuore's or a sporty Opti etc, etc.
