New Fourtrak Owner ... needing advice on gearbox

Forum:

Hi everyone, just bought myself a Fourtrak to play about with, there is quite a bit of transmission noise on it so I bought a good secondhand box of known condition, ... my question is ...is it best/easiest to swap the box from underneath and risk getting a hernia!... or to remove the engine and box and fit it that way?
any information will be most welcome
thanks in advance.
Dave.

you can split the transfer

you can split the transfer box of First underneath to make it lighter, just use trolley jacks, or if yours has a sunroof you can take it out and run a bar across the with a hand winch dangling down through the tunnel and lift it that way, pretty straightforward job all round, theres a top bolt or two on the box a bit awkward so you need a long extension to get them, but apart from that and a few connectors/pipes and props n mounts its just jiggery pokery.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

ok thanks for the info' ...

ok thanks for the info' ... not sure about splitting the transfer box off first though, its not usually a problem getting it off ...its getting it back on that's the hard part eh? ...i have a hyd' bike bench i was planning to use underneath just to lift it far as pos ...then a trolley jack on top of that.

anyway i'll figure it out i just thought there might be a secret easy way haha.
cheers.
