Forum:
Greetings drivers,
I could use some help with an electrical problem on my '98 F73.
Suddenly the hazards and headlights stopped working!
Horn and turn signals still work fine.
Checked all fuses, none burned.
Checked flasher under the dash. I can hear the flasher buzzing when I turn hazards on (sometimes it buzzes, sometimes it doesnt at all).
When to buy new flasher. Store tested mine and it works fine, so didnt buy the new one.
I dont know where else to look!
I'm stuck with no headlights and no hazards!
What's your advice?
Appreciated!
Fusible links
Is there a fusible link attached to the 12v battery? Take a look at the cables where they attached to the 12v battery. You really need to invest in a w/s manual which included the wiring circuit diagrams. If you have a multi-meter you could check the earth connections to the problem circuits.
Air blast and fusible link
Thanks for the advice!
Didn't think of it. I'll look at the fusible link first. It could be just that (I remember these cables are quite a mess). And I'll blast air after. Could just be dirt messing with the switches and connections.
Thanks a lot!
Cheers
Fusible link!
Problem solved!
Was a bad wire connection at that fusible link on the battery.
Thanks a lot.
Cheers
personally I'd take of the
personally I'd take of the steering wheel, then the stalk and give it a dam good clean, if you can't remove the wheel stick an air line in the stalk housing and blast away.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
