Good Morning,
Car: Daihatsu Terios Tracker 2003 Auto
I wonder if anyone can help me with a imoboliser issue.
I installed a new car radio yesterday, purchasing the radio and harness via Halfords, which they checked against my model to ensure it was the correct one. I was in and out of the car but did not stsrt it, as per normal when you only have a minute to start before imoboliser activates, and after I fitted and before I put the part of dash back I turned the key to access power to test radio, but did not start car and all worked fine.
However, when I put the radio in and put everything back the radio seemed to go off and the imoboliser started alarming, which I could not turn off via the fob. I tried to close all the doors and re-set via the fob, but this did not work either, even though there was the green light flashing on the fob, so I had to disconnect the negative from the battery to dis-arm the alarm. This is where I left it, so could anyone enlighten me as to what to do next as when I put the negative back on it starts alarming again.
Many Thanks

You need to diagnose
Hi. Sounds like when you pushed the radio back in you may have caught something and dis-lodged it? I have fitted many a radio in to My YRV Dash and know with these aftermarket radios the amount of extra wires you can get with them. And how tight it starts to get when you put the radio back into the dash. All I can say is it sounds like you may have dis-lodged another wire perhaps when you pushed your new radio in. Have come across many a botched job before now where the last owner has spliced a cable somewhere for example and you may have over stretched it for example.
Also check all your fuses in both the engine bay and the cabin area to see if you haven't blown one when doing the installation. Good Luck
Your best bet is to take the radio out of the dash and try again. Ideally you are supposed to disconnect the battery first before attaching anything electrical into the car so you never know you could have also shorted something somewhere
Edited:
Just read you have an alarm fitted? Just to make you aware Daihatsu never fitted alarms to any of their vehicles, only immobilisers, so it could be the third party alarm and how this was fitted that could also be the problem.

Many Thanks Jpor, for you swift reply, I shall remove and start again, checking all the wires behind just incase I have dislodged something.
