Sirion 4trak Sticking Calipers Sticky!

Forum:

Hello Everybody

I recently bought back a red 2004 model from my nephew which I had sold to him a couple of years back. Before me it had belonged to a certain Mr Fudge who I believe is known around these parts.

The car had been on sorn for months and I noticed that the car would not move on slight inclines so checked the calipers and found them seized. From the advice on the sticky I purchased that Irwin nut grabber and a 1 metre breaker bar from Machine Mart, silicon grease and the mitsubishi slider pins. I also had to buy a secondhand caliper plate as I sheared the head off of one of the pins when trying to shift it because it was stuck so tight. I also fitted new discs and pads at the same time.

I finished putting it back together on Saturday morning and I have brakes again! I can get rid of that anchor now, so a big thanks to all who shared their advice on that sticky.

The car is now showing 94k and the engine still pulls like a train.

This all sounds mighty

This all sounds mighty familiar! I had similar problems and Bob sorted me out. Have just messaged him about the slider pins as mine feel slightly loose and make the brakes rattle a little (I thought it was the suspension at first). If, after a few weeks of use, yours doesn't rattle, do you think you could let me know. If no-one else has had this problem perhaps it's my caliper that's worn, or maybe it got a bit damaged removing the seized pin!

I will keep you posted.

Have you fitted new pins? I.e. The Ebay Mitsubishi ones?
To me they seem to have the same dimensions as the old ones and I also fitted the supplied rubber bushes onto the 2 grooved pins.

When I removed the old grooved pin - the one I could get out - the bush was long gone.

Ah, interesting! I had to get

Ah, interesting! I had to get my brother's garage to do the work 'cos I couldn't squat down with a dodgy knee. Used the Mitsubishi pins, but not sure if the rubber bushes were fitted. Leg's a bit better now so I'll take a look when I get the chance.
Thanks for that!
