Fourtrak over revved for 30 secs piled smoke out then re-started and fine

Forum:

I recently treat my fourtrak to a oil change and cleaned the carbon out of the turbo pick up pipe.. After I did about one mile I pulled out of a junction and the engine went to maximum revs for about 30 seconds got to be the worst sound I have ever Hurd.. Black and gray smoke piled out ...I turned off the ignition and kept running for around 20-30 secs before stalling ..I re started it expecting done thing to be bad but runs better than ever and the turbo seems to come in a lot stronger Beee heard pleanty horror stories on trooper about oil turbo seals going and blowing engine ...local mechanic seems to think the turbo flexi pick up pipe as soaked thinners up , I used to clean carbon out of it and he reckons the turbo had a good wifi of it and that's why it did what it did ... As any one had same issue and do you think I will be ok to drive it still thanks for reading .

yer you fed the turbo some

yer you fed the turbo some food by not cleaning proprly the residue or you spilt some down a pipe etc, use universal solvent cleaners, there is no residue, you'll find afrer a thrashing like that the engine will run much better and be more responsive, but it just depends as to whether you may have cooked say the head gasket slightly or the turbo seals and bearings took the pounding, only time will tell, look after it, keep checking it.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Is there any way to check the

Is there any way to check the oil seals at all Beee I have checked the intercooler pipes for excess oil and they only have a oily film like them all not dripping so hopefully

Where is the turbo pick up

Where is the turbo pick up pipe and should this be cleaned now and then Unknw I've never done mine in 12 years

Take wheel off on passanger

Take wheel off on passanger side by the oil filter look up and you will see a metal flexi pipe that bolts on to turbo underneath ...these usually bung up and cause turbo's to blow and main cause of oil leaks on traks as these don't supply the continuous oil the turbo needs worth cleaning at every oil change Wink
