Fourtrack - Wheels + Arch extensions

Forum:

I have a 1993 Fourtrack 2.8TDX. Im thinking about changing the standard 255-70-15's wheels for new alloys. The 1994+ Fourtracks have even wider wheel arches than mine and i was wondering whether any one has fitted the 94+ arches to an earlier model??? Just had a new tyre fitted at ATS recently which was rather expensive (Dunlop £105), the manager there told me that the 255 size was an odd size and is therefore more expensive. Has anyone fitted a larger size wheel to a Fourtrack which has a generally cheaper tyre size, and doesnt rub the arches??? Thanks for any advice given. Toby.

225 tyres

I was running a set of 225-70-15`s on 10 inch rims (alloy) on my E plate priop to the spring over conversion and never encountered any problems with these and i also think that you should shop around for prices, it seems a bit steep for one tyre. To me it sounds like the fitter was talking out of his arse, try the magazines and web sites for tyre sizes and prices they are usually cheaper than any dealer network. You could get hold of a very good tyre for around £40 - £50 or even cheaper for a set. Hope this helps,

Tyres

Top tip. Don't ever go to ATS or Kwik fit for tyres. Local dealers are always MUCH cheaper.
