Can anyone help !
I've just bought a 1965 Land rover thats had what seems to be a DG Diahatsu non turbo deisel engine fitted.
I know nothing other than the engine number 410740. I'm told this was quite a popular conversion in the past and that the Land rover is all the better for having this engine.
Could anyone tell me what it was from or the cc or any other information so if and when i need parts or even service items i have something to go on.

Nearly all the parts are the same for turbo and non turbo engines, but as this was a conversion it assumes they used Daihatsu components as many conversions are mix and match.

Give your engine number to your local factors and he will match parts for you.

The DG is the 2.5 Diesel from ther Fourtrak's predecesor (the F50 or 55). The 2.8 lump is the DL. The 2.5 is a much torquier engine. FGar superiour to the normaly assperated 2.8. However if it came too it the 2.8 will bolt to the same gearbox / conversion plate. The engine mounts are different thogh. If you want a terbo...

I’ve just done the same thing I have brought a series 3 1978 with a Daihatsu 2.8 td engine.
Maybe I’m being a dumb arss, but where can I find the engine and module number? As I’ve had a look round it and can’t find it.
