2009 Terios questions

Forum:

Hi, just picked up a 2009 Terios 1.5S with 70k for my mother.

Few queries and issues....

Queries:
Doesnt appear to have Diff lock button.
only has 1 key - easy to get additional?
What other vehicle does the 1.5 engine share?
What is the service schedule (no booklets received with car) - just found out its Chain driven Smile

Issues:
very uneven idle and sometimes tries to cut out
very poor acceleration (maybe linked to the above)
No dipped beam (bulbs look OK)

Thanks in advance.

Well, in regards to the engine (and what it sharded with) just came across this:

The 3SZ-VE is 1.5 L (1495 cc). Bore is 72 mm and stroke is 91.8 mm, with a compression ratio of 10.0:1 and redline of 6500 rpm. Output is 80 kW (107 hp) at 6000 rpm with 141 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm. It features VVT-i since 2006.

Applications:

Daihatsu Terios
Daihatsu Gran Max
Daihatsu Luxio
Daihatsu Materia / Daihatsu Coo
Toyota bB
Toyota Passo Sette
Toyota Avanza
Toyota Rush
Perodua Alza
Perodua Myvi SE

Most likely the reason it

Most likely the reason it does not have difflock button is it is the rear wheel drive only model.

First thing I would do is to do a full service to solve the power issues. Is the engine fault light on?

They are usually very reliable if looked after I have a 2008 with 230,000km no issues apart from a worn front driveshaft

Superb reliability with the

Superb reliability with the Terios, as others have said, your car could do with a full service, the Terios uses a cartridge oil filter not the spin on canister filter so if you plan on doing the oil change yourself you will need the socket that fits the oil filter housing, they can be bought on ebay for approx £15 and are used by Toyota and Lexus also, easy job on the Terios as the oil filter housing is right at front of the car so you can reach under to the housing and sump plug without jacking the car up, i would replace the H4 headlight bulbs as i bet the bulb has blown,my Daihatsu sirion also uses the 1500cc engine, as you say timing chain, The terios holds its value very well and they are very popular,i usually get service parts from carparts4less as everything has free uk delivery and excellent prices.

spare key

Also if you need another key, take your key into Timpsons shoe repair shops and they can cut you a copy for approx £35, i had one cut for my sirion and it works perfectly, if you go to the Daihatsu main agent it will be expensive.
