YRV 2001

Forum:

My Daughter has a 2001 YRV here in Australia. When it starts up you have to sit and wait until the temp gauge goes above cold before you can drive off. I you try to it judders and has no power. Sometimes the Engine management light comes on but sometimes it dosn't. If you try to free rev the engine it sounds like it is flat spotting and then you get a petrol smell like an over choke from the old days.

Any Suggestions please

O2/Lambda sensors been changed? Get an OBD2 code reader.

Maybe worth changing both O2/Lambda sensors. Also worth getting something to plug into the OBD2 port to check the ECU light error code. Other things to look at. Coil packs, igniter box that connects to the coil packs (If you have one) for corrosion. Another possible problem could be a faulty MAP sensor? Had something similar to what you describe when I replaced a thermostat with one that opened up earlier and would get a jerky response from the engine until it warmed up. Good luck! Smile
