Extol Alternator / Power Steering Belt

Forum:

My alternator/powersteering belt is squeeling so I am after a replacement. It's a 2004 Van without air con and the only belts I can find on eBay seem to be for the bus with air con. Has anyone replaced their and can tell me the part number or where to get one.

I have been offered a Gates 4PK708 but the supplier thinks it might fit but also thinks it is for the van with air con.

Great little vans.

PS. I wrote to my local Daihatsu Service Garage in Louth. Reply:-

Good Morning,

I have looked into this and it appears that there is only one option available for your vehicle. The price is £84.37, however, the belt would have to come direct from Japan which take between one & three weeks.

No thanks I will look to see if I can find a match at that price .

Update. Defo NOT 4PK708. This is a short (708 mm) belt from alt to crank shaft and is used as a secondary belt on Extols with Air Con. The belt I need is a serpentine belt from alternator across water pump to adjuster then power steering, crankshaft and back to alternator via a direction change pulley. Once I find a belt I will post an update.

I have now got the belt off the car, it is a 4v belt with an outside length of 1722-1723 mm. I am going to take it to a few factors to see if they can match it and will provide details if I get one for others.

I have now replaced the beltwith a 4PK1720.(£15) I assumed that the original belt which had been on from new may have stretched/worn and the belt fitted with the alternator adjustment at minimum. You can get a 4PK1725 but I suspect it may slip even with adjustment at max. Seems ok at the moment.

Odd that no factor lists the correct serpentine belt for these vans, just the short belt mentioned above. Even Extols with the secondary belt have a long primary serpentine belt belt linking Crank to water pump, air con pump and power steering pulley although no one seems to know about it? As for the Daihatsu dealer God only knows what size that belt would have been, short or long but at that price who cares.
