Hi, My first post. Have 4/85 Daihatsu Delta V57 van - converted to campervan, with VW pop top. Recently did short trip {after 20 yrs. in shed}, also lots of local trips to suss it out. Seemed to get hot after15 minutes of driving - boiled once. Fitted new alum. radiator with elec. fan, thermostat, hoses, anti freeze/anti boil {127*}, fitted scoop under front into radiator. On 140km. trip numerous stops to cool down & top up radiator. Had to get "rescued" by Auto Club tilt tray, after engine seized. Retired Diesel Mechanic, so pulled head - all good - no cracks, head gasket intact, no obvious damage, no water in oil, no oil in water. One obvious "weird problem" - 3/4" water jacket holes in head and head gasket don't have corresponding water jacket holes in block! Block is solid, only a few 1/2" diam. holes in block/head/gasket line up. Considering drilling NEW holes in block to correspond with head gasket/head. Has anybody else come across this instance? Has me beat!
