After fixing the classic loose nut problem in the gearbox (causing to loose 2nd gear)...

...I've now run into a new problem. When running in 5th gear at anything over 50mph, the car has developed a nasty habit of randomly jumping into neutral on the transfer box... all on its own!
My mechanic had the transfer box off last week to fix the loose nut in the gearbox, but didn't have any problems refitting it. There seems to be a bit of noise and vibration coming from the propshaft so I'm wondering if a bearing has gone in the transfer box or if anyone has had this kind of problem before?
Its pretty annoying - since you have to stop and put it back into 2H every time this happens. It can be pretty dangerous on a motorway or fast A-road.
Any ideas/advice will be very greatfully recieved!

If it wasn't doing this befor
If it wasn't doing this before your mechanic tightened the nut in the transmission, I'd take it back to the mechanic immediately and have it checked.
I'd guess something wasn't lined up right between the gearbox and transfer case during assmebly, the bolts aren't tight, or the shift lever is hitting the car body and getting pushed into neutral.
Transfer Case
Your mechanic has fell into a common trap. The anti backlash gear in the transfer case has not been meshed properly. Dont drive the truck at all or you'l destroy thrust bearings.
Have a nice quiet friendly chat with your %#|*^!^@^! mechanic and get him to read the manual or to ask someone who knows what they are doing to help him.
