Fourtrak 2.8 Diesel Independant 1993 Help

Forum:

My fourtrak 2.8 diesel 1993 keeps breaking injector pipes, is this normal?

no they should not

Mate,

no this is not normal. Have you checked the engine mounts? if the injector pipes keep breaking there must some kind of vibration issue may be even harmonic).

Are they actually breaking or rubbing on someting?

I have a set of 4 injector pipes from a 1991 2.8TD if your insterested as spare.

Injector pipes

The olive keeps breaking off the injector pipes and the rubber on the clamps holding them is also wearing. Have gone through numerous pipes mainly on the first injector. Had that one changed and clamps etc checked at diesel garage but within few months the pipe went again.

Injector pipes

Hi Merlin,

Just some ideas that may or may not help.

Have you checked your injection pump is correctly bolted to the front plate? Nothing trapped between the plate and the pump and all the bolts are tight. Should the pump have a support bracket at the back to the block? Also check that the front plate that the pump bolts to isn't cracked. Another one to look at (and this is a long shot), is the front crank pulley. Do the Fourtrak's have a vibration damper type pulley ( solid inner part that fits on the crank, with an outer pulley part bonded to a thin band of rubber between the two parts)? Has the rubber deteriorated letting vibrations get through to the engine?
