Differential locks!!??

Forum:

Has anyone been able to locate any diff locks other than original LSD.. Detroit lockers anything.. after trying friends "white whale" with front difflock i'll sell my rocky if i don't find difflocks because the difference was huge.. rocky is suprisingly good in offroading but as the appetite grows the limitations grow bigger and bigger..

Don't know about diff locks,

Don't know about diff locks, but have you thought about fiddle breaks?
Fiddles can be rigged up to work on the hand break cables, without compramising the hand break itself. Used properly fiddles can not only help you turn tighter (which is there best known use), but also to get out of cross axles. You can use the fiddle break to lock / slow a spinning wheel (or wheel off the ground) thus transfuring drive to the other wheel (like a manual form of traction control.
This araingment also means you avoid the locked diff tendency towards cronic under stear.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Difflocks were available for

Difflocks were available for the F70/75 Rocky/Fourtraks. Were, being the important word there. TracTech, the company that makes Detriot Lockers is the only company that made them. Unfortunately, they stopped making them about 5 years ago. So unless you can find one in a wreck, or weld your diff, you are out of luck.

How do I know this, cause I have a vested interest, I have Detriots front and rear in mine.

Cheers
David

Yes i have been thinking abou

Yes i have been thinking about fiddlebrakes, but i'm almost 99,9% sure that our laws prohibit them in a car that is used in streets. I have a wreck of a rocky which i'm thinking about turning into just offroad vehicle. Problem is that offroading would mean using a trailer to transport the car to the location. now it is just turn of a steeringwheel when you see a nice spot Wink Rocky is the least favorite offroading car in finland so no luck finding used locks Sad I'll have to ask about fiddlebreaks and how much would it cost to get someone to make a lock.. has anyone got any news from taft diesel in indonesia, someone said that they are making locks into 29 spline and trying 30 spline..

I recently made some contact

I recently made some contact with 4wdSystems after seeing an old advertisement for Lokka difflocks. (Thanks Troy )

I asked if there was a locker for an F78 Rocky... I got this in reply

hi,this model was never available. however have some overseas interest latly so it may happen. have put on list to advise if ever happens tom

So, if any, particularly F78 owners want some Lokka Lock-Rites... I suggest you email eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%74%6f%6d%40%34%77%64%73%79%73%74%65%6d%73%2e%63%6f%6d%2e%61%75%22%3e%74%6f%6d%40%34%77%64%73%79%73%74%65%6d%73%2e%63%6f%6d%2e%61%75%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b'))

I'm not sure if it is for F78 only... or older models as well...
