Forum:
My recently aquired F75 Fourtrak has the standard rotten rear floor.
Someone has welded it up in the past but ommitted he body to chassis mounts so they have almost dissapeared and obviously would need repairing for an MOT.
Seeing I don't need the rear seats anyway I've decided to simply cut off the rear and turn it into a pick-up - which is more useful for me.
Before I get involved with "re-inventing the wheel" has anyone already done this and can provide advice / opinions etc
Thanks.
Paul Humphries.

turning estate into pick up
Hi paul just found this web site but to anserw your question i have just done the mod.
its quite easy to do if you have a plastic back type as mine was.
strip out internal trim inc rear roof lining. you should find a large number of screws and bolts that hold the roof to the sides and the side to the body.Keep all the trim as you might want to mod some of it and put it back. remove the seats etc. remove the rear door keep intact. lift the carpet out. at this stage 3-4 hours have past
check out the state of the inner arches floor etc(mine were rotten)
you should take the side inner trim out
Now you need a mig welder or a good mate with one. Weld two strips of 1 or 2mm thick steel into the front part of the inner sides about
60mm wide top to bottom.
Now the clever bit
take the raer door and stand it behind the front seats.
mole grip the top gutter to the top of the door and tack weld it.
The centre section of the gutter will need infilling with plate.
Weld the sides of the door to the newley added plates.
Weld some shaped plates to infill the top sides to the door
and thats pritty much it the rest is self explanitry.
I welded all the gaps I could and then fiber glassed the load floor and approx 3" up the sides then plasma cut some ali checker plate for the sides (using the trim panels as templates)and back of the cab up to the bodystyling line.(some body filler is needed)
I hope this helps the total mod took about two (long) days.
hope to post some pics soon
