td fourtrak lack of power

can any body help? my 1989 td fourtrak has a lack of power,turbo seams to be working fine on flat roads but when it gets to a hill the is a lack of power.

Is it intercooled? If so, check carefully for either a split intercooler hose, or a dislodged hose fitting. Even if its not, check the hose between turbo and inlet manifold for cracks. Does the exhaust colour give you any hints? Is it smoking excessively? Or less than normal. This may mean problems with fuel or air delivery.
